It's a shame... this apartment is in a beautiful 1896 (or thereabouts) complex with large windows (in the front), hardwood floors and a decent layout. As with all the units in the building, apartments rent at a competitive price for the the wonderful and always improving neighborhood (provided you don't have a car to worry about). TOO BAD the landlords, Beal Properties, care about nothing more than taking your money... I am one of very few tenants to renew my lease (seven years!) as most pull-out after the first year, if they don't manage to break their lease sooner. Their reason for not renewing is always "Great building... HATE the landlord." Tenants will go for months (as I did) without basic services or even appliances. Hallways smell like sewage from a constantly broken subpump in the basement. Laundry room is expensive (requires tokens), machines rarely work, and too many rats and flies to make it worth the trouble. Maintenance staff seems to change every six months.
I hope this doesn't apply to all of Beal's properties, but I can tell you for certain that absolutely NONE of their tenants on Oakdale Avenue have anything good to say about these people. If you're curious, swing by a building and ask. People are more than willing to complain about the terrible mismanagement of all their Oakdale buildings. BEWARE BEAL PROPERTIES! Their apartments are great (though run-down), and they definitely aren't worth the trouble. |
