| I rented a 1 bedroom in this building and things were fine until m next door neighbor moved in. Make sure you ask questions about who you'll be living next to...this guy was living off the state and was constantly outside begging for change and harassing pedestrians. On more than one occasion, he came knocking at my door at all hours, drunk off his a$$, asking for favors. One of my other neighbors had to call the police on him as he was taking strolls naked in front of the complex. I sent letters to management to let them know what was going on but they couldn't care less and nothing was done. Finally, I arrived home one day to find my apartment had been ransacked. All my DVDs, my stereo, luggage, digital camera were stolen...and I'm positive it had something to do with my neighbor (either it was him or someone he knew). Only my neighbor knew when I was in and out of the apartment. Whoever it was broke through my kitchen door with a crow-bar. And my neighbor claims he didn't hear ANYthing! He doesn't work! He's home all day and he doesn't "hear anything"? Mind you, he's the eyes and ears of the neighborhood. He was always aware of who lived where and whose car was whose... After the burglary, I decided I would have to break the lease and move to a different apartment. The frustrating thing was that I had just renewed my lease 3 days prior to the robbery! But I thought, "S&M's been good to me, I'm never late with my rent, in fact, they've called me an ideal tenant.....I shouldn't have any problem getting out of the lease. NOT SO! Not only were they completely unsympathetic to what had just happened, but I had to call to remind them to replace the back door! I had to barricade the door with furniture over the weekend until someone came to fix the thing. And another frustrating thing was they made NO effort to show the apartment after I had left. I was killing myself trying to find a tenant for this place and they did absolutely NOTHING! In fact, I set up a viewing for someone while I wa out of town and no one from S&M bothered to show up to let the potential tenant in! I felt totally taken advantage of. First they leased a room to a transient guy (his sister took care of the rent and bills), then they did absolutely nothing to help lease the apt for one of their best tenants! I felt completely at the mercy of S&M.
Though they were good with upkeep of the grounds, I was completely disappointed with their lack of support after the robbery. I was a great tenant and I felt I got the shaft.
All I can say is, watch it with these guys. They act like they care about thier tenants but when push comes to shove, all they care about is your signature on that lease. |
