The price reflects this. Nothing else does. This building was converted to residential lofts in the mid-1980's. Very little has been done to upgrade the building since. The appliances are extremely out dated and often breakdown -- the management will attempt to patch them up numerous times before they replace them. The bathrooms need to be refurbished as well. Apartment condition is poor -- I spent about a week prior to move-in just scrubbing the place down. The worst quality about the building is NOISE!!!! You literally hear your neighbors program their microwaves. You hear telephone conversations (so assume yours are heard too). You hear sexual activity. You hear everything. Also poor, is the caliber of the tenants. I often wonder how they afford to live here. Rear entry areas are dirty and smelly (although my guests don't have to come in that way, I do). There is zero security, and because of the coded entry system, police cannot access the building at night in case of emergency, which has actually been expressed to me by 911 personnel. All of this comes at a premium price. I have live in two other buildings in this area, and found both to be worth the money and lacking in these types of problems.
