Apartment Review for 1St Chicago Apartment Rentals - Chicago, IL

These people are utter scum. First you should know that they also call themselves "The Schirm Firm" and "Capital Partners" I have had 2 different apartments that I rented through them, and each one has been a nightmare. The first one had roaches, and when I complained about it they had the nerve to suggest that I had brought the roaches with me when I moved in. The roaches were COMING OUT OF THE WALLS in the hallway. Second, below my apt in that building there was a psychotic man who was not even on a lease, living there. Schirm Firm knew about this and did nothing. The guy blasted his stereo, they did nothing. He threatened me when I complained, they did nothing. At that point I should have moved out, sued them, and been done with it. But I stupidly moved into a different building of theirs. This second building stank of cat piss, pot and cigarettes on a daily basis from the tenants on the first floor. The hallway of the building smells like a zoo. What did the landlords do about this? NOTHING. But the worst part of this "company," and I use the term loosely, is that when you move out they will be so bitter they will nickle and dime you over the smallest things -- broken mini blinds which were broken when you moved in, and asinine cleaning charges. After being a responsible tenant for 3 years, paying ON TIME every month, these scumbags have the nerve to tell me I owe them $65 OVER MINI BLINDS. I guess they are really desperate for money, since they raise the rent EVERY SINGLE YEAR, and can't even be bothered to replace the broken washing machines, which must be from the 1950s. Our apt also had a broken toilet and the "janitor" Peter told us, "Hit it with a hammer." REALLY? That's your plumbing solution?! No wonder your buildings are falling apart! That's right, the ROOF at 2243 W Eastwood IS FALLING ONTO THE STREET BELOW. Schirm FIrm, maybe you can put that measly $65 towards that! Because when someone dies because of it you're going to have a million $ lawsuit on your hands! They also have the worst customer service on the planet -- when you call to discuss any of these charges they will answer the phone with "hello," not tell you who you are speaking to, insult you, and HANG UP ON YOU repeatedly. Hey Schirm Firm (I KNOW you're reading this), were you raised by wolves? Do you KNOW what customer service is? Do you KNOW why people move out of your apartments? I guess not! Too bad you can't retain tenants, because you treat us all like shit. Too bad I will never refer anyone to you, and will continue to trash you in public forums at every change I get. And, if you continue to harass me, yell at me, and hang up on me, I will go to the police and file a restraining order, as well as a report with the BBB. I have never met landlords as scummy and disgusting as these people (I hesitate to call them people). I have never seen a company with worse customer service. DO NOT rent from them.
