Apartment Review for 2716 N Hampden Court - Chicago, IL

The water is orange. When I called the maintenance guy about it, and RRG, they told me thats how it is and everyone in the building has to deal with it. Really??? You cannot take a shower (if the water runs clear) longer than 8 minutes without the water turning ice cold. There is portions of the wall/ceiling that is swollen, and a rusted color, from what i have no idea - but I was on the fourth floor. The building is old so you do have to excuse some of the condition of the building, however, there are so many things left undone that it only makes the "old" factor a non-issue. The maintenance guy (lives in the building) does not respond right away, does not respond courteously, and stinks up the entire first floor with whatever they cook. The kitchen cabinets were new (it seemed) but literally required a tool to open since someone put a sticky substance on the inside of the cabinet door, and not a handle. Oh, and 8 weeks before my lease ended, I got notification from RRG that I need to inform them immediately if I was remaining after the lease expired. They gave me a time frame, which (from living with an eviction attorney the year before) I knew I did not have to give notice that early in advance. THey also indicated that the rent would be increased to $25 more per month due to rising costs. ? I could move to a building a block away and could pay less that amount for a larger space, with amenities (this place had none)!!
