Apartment Review for 537 West Melrose Apartments - Chicago, IL

I lived at that address for a two years. It's a great neighborhood: conveniently located, great restaurants and close to the train and buses. The builing itself was constructed in the late 60's and the buidling really needs updating. The units are inconsistent. Some have been remoldeled while others have not. Min in particular was challenging. When I viewed the apartment the first time, the management company for the building assured me that mine was in the process of being remodeled and would be finished on my move in date. When I moved in, I was very unhappy to find the unit had barely been worked on at all! The building super was impossible to reach and so I have to go through hoops to find someone at the executive level of the management company to come and look at the apartment. He was also shocked to see all that was never completed. After a few months...yes, a few months, I got things sorted out. Then I found a mouse in my unit one night. The super again was impossible to reach. Again, I had to go to the management company to address the issue. GREAT neighborhood, skip looking at this building as a place to live. I have friends in the same neighborhood who have great apartments for the same price as this one.
