Apartment Review for 5630 North Sheridan Road - Chicago, IL

I've lived at 5630 for about a year, and I decided to renew my lease. Overall, my experience has been pretty good... not great, but not bad either. I did see some cockroaches when I first moved in, but I haven't seen any in months. The building has routine extermination now, and I've had notices that the exterminator came to my unit twice in the past few months. That's a good sign of improvement. I've NEVER seen bedbugs as one poster mentioned. Management is also doing other things to improve the building -- painting, new rugs and carpets, even putting hardwood floors in some of the units. They have also evicted two of my noisy/problem neighbors, so I think they're making a serious effort to have a nicer building than before. The building is on a seriously busy road with a ton of noise (two major intersections), so if that is bothersome to you, definitely don't live here. I don't mind the noise, so I'm pretty content. Also, I have beautiful views of the lake from my bedroom and kitchen. There are three buses that stop pretty much in front of the building, and the red line is less than a five minute walk away. You can't beat the location for public transit or access to Lake Shore Drive if you have a car. (And there's a garage in the building if you want a parking space.) Oh, there are four good-sized closets in my one-bedroom unit AND a storage space on my floor. It's pretty awesome.
