Apartment Review for 707 West Sheridan - Chicago, IL

I love this apartment building. I currently have a one bedroom apartment where I live with my husband and my dog (over 50 pounds). My apartment is very spacious with large windows and a wall air-conditioning unit. Covered or uncovered parking is available. What I'm really enjoying about this apartment is the renovations. Previously, this building was a little out-of-date. Nothing too serious, but I've never swam in the pool because it looked creepy. The pool, fitness center, and lobby are currently being redecorated. There is no longer a double-door entrance, so the problem with homeless people going in there to sleep will be eliminated. Also, all the apartments are being remodeled as people move out to include hard wood flooring. This past week, my floor was redecorated with new paint and changing our locks in our doors to electronic keys. Another great change: the management. Margie the "B" is gone, although I still think she lives in the building (weird). The new staff is nice, friendly, and very helpful. The maintenance staff is the same, which is great because they are wonderful. They often stop to pet my dog and chat whenever they see us. They are also very on top of maintenance. If my problem can't be fixed the day I call, it's fixed the next day. Any kind of maintenance emergency is taken care of immediately. For example, they were remodeling the apartment next to ours, and I think someone must have nudged the gas on the stove. At midnight on a Friday, I walked into the hall to walk my dog, and smelled gas in the hallway. My husband called the 24 hour line and the maintenance crew was there within 10 minutes. Overall, this is a great place to live. Great building in a great area. I would love the rent to be lower, but wouldn't everyone? It's still lower than a lot of other places I've heard of.
