Apartment Review for Mac Property Management - Chicago, IL

I moved into an apartment in Hyde Park owned by Mac this year. I was impressed with the appearance of the leasing office, the patience and presentation of Annette the leasing agent, and I felt like they really had it together. Boy was I wrong. When I signed my lease, there were a couple of things wrong with the apatment (cracks, holes in the walls, leaky faucets)Annette assured me that everything will be handle by the time I moved in. I also asked her about an infestation problem, she told me that I had nothing to worry about, no bugs of any kind. When I picked up my key and proceeded to move in, I noticed that no work had been done. Also as I was moving in the tenants informed me of a rodent and roach problem. They wasnt lying, I killed a bunch of roaches until I spend about 30 bucks on bug proofing my apartment. I also still have ladybugs, centipedes and spiders. I just gave up on it. In addition to the things that haven't been fixed, I developed a leak in my ceiling. The maintenance people just came and painted over the stain, the leak is still there everytime it rains. Did I mention that the halls are rarely swept and mopped; there's still a blood stain on the wall of the hall way from when a tenant was arrested. I'm not a complainer at all but this place is a dump. Not because of the place itself but because the management sucks. O and yea, they just informed me that they would be going up on my rent by 16%....another thing Annette lied to me about, she told me 7-9%
