Apartment Review
Unhappy in my 2nd year
Review Date: 12/2/2006 Reviewer: Anonymous
I have lived here for a year and a half and wish that I did not renew my lease. The longer I've lived here, the more problems I notice. The fact that these apts need renovation was not a big deal to me, but may be for others. The kitchens need to be updated - the counters and floors are old, cabinets are rickety. Some apts have newer ovens and microwaves, but mine does not. The bathrooms merely have a counter, really tiny medicine cabinet, and cabinet under the sink. There are no drawers or shelves. I've really started being bothered by the noise level recently. I don't know if it's just noisy neighbors who have moved in, but I hear loud music being played constantly from different apartments around me and above me. Sometimes this is during the day, while at other times it's in the middle of the night (once waking me up!) Also, although you don't pay for heat or air conditioning, you also don't control when they are turned on or off. So, if you have a week of warm weather in the fall and management has already decided to turn off the A/C, you're stuck in a warm apt no matter how cool you turn down the dial. Or, if there is a really cold day in the spring and the heat has already been turned off, you will not have any heat no matter how high you crank the temperature. The upper-level management don't seem to really care about you as a tenant. It seems like they are merely concerned about profit. I was told by one of them that she would "look into" a problem I had had, but never heard back from her. On the upside, the doorstaff are wonderful and the maintenance/janitorial staff are great. The building is well-kept. Moving in was a breeze. The neighborhood is safe and right on the river. The lake-side view is spectacular. |
