Apartment Review for Grandeur - Chicago, IL

Marie, the resident manager, is one of the rudest, most obnoxious people on the planet!! There are at least 150 apartments in this building, mostly studios. I have been an excellent tenant. Always pay my rent on time. And I've never caused any problems. There are five dryers and five washers to serve all these apartments. When I went down to the laundry room, there were three washers with clothes still in them. I carefully removed the clothing and placed all of it neatly on a folding table. Two hours later, when I was unloading my last load from the dryers, Marie confronted me and asked if I had removed her stuff from the washers. Of course I admitted that I had. I had nothing to hide. She went off on me in front of two prospective tenants to whom she was showing the building. She must think she's the owner of the building, but she isn't. Needless to say, I was embarrassed for the prospective tenants. Like it was my fault that she took over two hours to attend to her laundry! To top it off, when I went downstairs to pick up a package earlier in the day, she went off on me because she said my air conditioner was dripping on the window ledge in front of the windows of the apartment below me. Is it my problem that the building has rotten wood windows that should have been replace ages ago!? What will they do when they get a good rain?! Needless to say, I won't be renewing my lease with Wilmettte Realty when the time comes. Another incident occurred when Wilmette accused me of not paying the $300 a year air conditioning fee (the building is centrally metered, so electricity is included in the rent). When I called them, with the cancelled check in my hand, the extremely rude person on the other end of the phone said it was just an accounting error. No apology, either. I said that as someone who pays their bills on time, I was insulted and did not expect this kind of treatment. She had the gall to tell me that there were a lot bigger things to get insulted over. Never again will I rent from Wilmette Real Estate.
