Apartment Review for Shermore Towers - Chicago, IL

Do not, under any circumstances, move into this building!!They will lie to you to make the building seem nicer. Maintenance is totally incompetent, managers are rude, building has numerous code violations and is downright nasty. Lots of problems with roaches(they are everywhere), several apartments have water leaks and the management has done nothing about it for YEARS. The elevators are basically "use at your own risk." Management will not take any complaint seriously..I've actually had management laugh at me when I complained! I was told I could move in with my dog and now I'm being told that my dog is a problem...they like to go back on their word (and lease terms) alot. Extermination services are a nightmare and if you can not, for any reason, let the exterminator into your unit they charge you $50...it's not even legal for them to do that but they do it anyway. They like to schedule the exterminations when people are at work so that people will miss it or be unprepared and they can charge the fee!!! Security? They have none...door locks are often broken allowing anyone to enter, mailboxes are broken with some doors left hanging open, tenants steal from the laundry room if you don't stay right with your laundry. They are not concerned with keeping the building up to code and do not care if they break the law, endanger tenants' safety, violate the Tenants Rights Act or take care of the building in general. Certain parts of the building are a serious health risk (possible toxic mold) but they refuse to test or repair said areas...probably because they are CHEAP! The neighborhood is nice but this has to be one of the worst managed, worst looking and all around worst places to live in the area. Stay far, far away from Pabcor Equities and 5800 N. Sheridan Road!!!
